Fling Things and People
How to Survive in Fling Things and People
Death in FTAP is usually purple liquid, the ocean, or the void. There is no HP bar drama. You either clutch a platform or you reset. This page is the defensive half of the movement guides.
Carry a flyer
The single best defensive habit is a Pallet, plank, or UFO sitting in Your Toys. When you are thrown, spawn it under your feet and ride. BreadOnASwing’s clutch clip is short because the idea is short: do not hit water empty-handed.
Water and crouch saves
Fandom notes a crouch-plus-spawned-object save that slows a fling enough to live. It works better on vanilla grabbers than on Farther Reach plus scripted Super Throw. Still: crouch, spawn, stand. Practice it over shallow shoreline, not over the Poison Pit on the first try.
Poison rules
Purple liquid under the factory island kills in roughly five seconds if you are submerged without a dry prop to stand on. Moving in it is worse. The only other common kills are fire Toys and falling out of the world. If a lobby is camping the pit, leave the rim. Go build. The game is a sandbox, not an arena with a scoreboard.
Escape Faster is the defensive pass
Default struggle is up to about 12 seconds. Escape Faster drops that to 4. On a 25-player server that is the difference between a joke grab and a trip to the abyss. Cosmetic Multi-Color Line will not save you. See the pass list and the picker if you only buy one defensive upgrade.
Frequently asked questions
Can I die from being flung into a wall?
Usually no. You ragdoll. The lethal layers are poison, fire, and void.
Do plots protect me?
They reduce random traffic. They do not make you immortal. Permissions live on plots.
Is camping the pit “winning”?
It is a playstyle. The rest of the island still exists.
