Fling Things and People
How to Fling Far in Fling Things and People
A weak throw is a drop. A far throw is a run, a jump, a camera snap, and a release at the apex. Wrath’s gamepass versus no-gamepass video is the reference most FTAP players still share.
The physics, not the myth
The Grab Line does not have a hidden power stat in vanilla. Your character’s movement speed, jump, look vector, and the target’s mass decide the arc. Heavy sofas die near your feet. Players, pallets, and light Toys travel. Farther Reach only changes how far away you may latch (20 to 30 studs) and the line’s look. It does not auto-win a throw — it just lets you start the pull from safer space.
With and without the pass
On a pass account, extend the line, drag the victim, walk backward to load the tether, jump, and throw at the top of the jump while looking at the ocean or the Poison Pit. On a no-pass account, Wrath’s later clip (embedded on the Pallet page) exists because ground-stretch throws are awkward at 20 studs. Learn to fling off a moving Pallet so the extra velocity substitutes for reach.
A practice drill that fits one cooldown
- Grab a dummy prop, not a player, until the motion is boring.
- Add a four-step run-up. Standing throws are for furniture moving.
- Jump and release on the way up, not after you land.
- Look at the horizon, not at the victim’s head.
- Repeat toward water so you get a clear distance read.
When that drill is clean, layer jump fling (rotate a body, pull, jump) and airgrab so you can recatch people mid-flight. Those are separate pages because they are separate timings.
Frequently asked questions
Does right-click always throw farther than dropping?
Throw uses your look vector and speed. A drop just unwelds. Use throw for distance.
Why did my throw go into the floor?
Camera was aimed down. Look up slightly on the jump.
Can mobile copy this?
Yes, slower. Read mobile controls and use the jump.
